PepsiCo Positive
We’re charting a new course to drive positive action for the planet and people
A better food system means better outcomes for the earth, and all of us.
By becoming better ourselves, we can help build a stronger, more sustainable future for us all.
"In 2021, we introduced a new North Star to guide our work at PepsiCo: pep+ ("PEP Positive")," says PepsiCo Chairman and CEO Ramon Laguarta. "It's not just a business strategy; it's a transformative journey across our operations, from production to marketing to distribution. It's our vision to deliver a more sustainable, people-centric future, driving growth and value, for everyone."

Learn how we're making our pep+ ambitions a reality
In Belgium, PepsiCo has invested in the following pep+ projects:
District Heating Network
PepsiCo has initiated an innovative project to capture excess heat from the chip production site through a district heating network. This heat will be used to sustainably heat approximately 500 local homes and provide hot water.
Water Project in Collaboration with Natuurpunt (Nature Point)
PepsiCo is supporting two innovative projects aimed at improving freshwater levels close to our Lay’s production site in Veurne. Freshwater scarcity in this region is a result of global climate change and years of intensive local agricultural projects. The shortage has impacted native and migratory birds and led to water use restrictions for local residents, as well as financial losses for farmers due to lost livestock and reduced crop yields caused by salinization. Our five-year partnership with the Belgian NGO Natuurpunt focuses on the restoration of two natural areas: De Blankaart and Uitkerkse Polder.
In the Netherlands, PepsiCo has invested in the following local pep+ projects:
Thermal Storage Technology for Electrifying Factory Processes
PepsiCo has initiated the construction of a thermal storage facilitiy that derives heat from sustainable electricity sources. This heat can then be used to bake chips produced on-site in a more sustainable manner. The replacement of natural gas with sustainable electricity initially results in approximately 50 percent CO2 reduction in the short term, with the ultimate goal of achieving a 98 percent reduction.
Community Support: Local Partnerships to Empower Children and Women
Alongside the PepsiCo Foundation, PepsiCo has renewed its partnership with Feyenoord Rotterdam and the Dutch Red Cross in 2023. PepsiCo supports the Feyenoord Foundation in providing educational opportunities to around 500 young students through a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and sports skills training program. Through the Red Cross's "Heldin" program, PepsiCo supports approximately 490 women with first aid training to enhance their self-development and contributions to their community by developing both soft and technical skills and providing mentorship.
